ELON – Howard Lyndo Hensley, 93, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Hospice Home. A native of Alamance County, he was born December 30, 1926 to the late Jesse Banner Hensley and Lucy Jarrett Hensley and was the husband of 65 years to Gladys Gertrude Crumpton Hensley of the home.

Howard faithfully served in the US Navy during WWII and was a member of Lighthouse Bible Church. He retired from Cone Mills and was a volunteer with the AO Fire Department for 30 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by all who knew and love him.

Survivors include his wife, Gladys; son, H. Dwight Hensley and wife Debbie; grandchildren, Harold "Jr." Huffines, Michael "Taylor" Hensley and wife Abby, Nic Ingle and wife Shanda, Kelly Uhl and husband Jeremiah; great grandchildren, Ruth Roach, Braxton Uhl, Lily Uhl, Dayne Uhl, Anna Claire Ingle, Jackson Ingle and Janie Ingle; sister, Polly Cox; brothers, Bobby Hensley and wife Helen, David Hensley and wife Glenna and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Carolyn Massey Jordan; siblings, J.B. Hensley, Opal Lane, Tunney Canady, Susie Cox and Charles "Zip" Hensley.

A service to celebrate Howard's life will be held 1:00pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Josh House with the burial to follow at Pine Hill Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1-5 on Thursday at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends at the home of Dwight and Debbie Hensley.
